This radio is an amazing little pocket marvel.
Not only is it very small (smaller than a cigarette pack), but it packs a lot of features.
FM Reception: 8/10. Very good reception, and FM is stereo via the earphone jack.
RDS Display: n/a
MW Reception: 8/10. Amazingly sensitive. Will receive many stations, even with the small ferrite antenna. You can switch between 9 and 10 khz.
LW Reception: n/a
SW Reception: 7/10. Will pull many stations, even with the small (25 cm ?) vertical antenna.
Air Band: yes, but not very sensitive, as the whole VHF band. It's more a gimmick than a useful feature. You can switch between 1 and 25 khz steps.
HF Amateur bands: yes, but does not include SSB mode.
VHF/UHF Amateur bands: VHF, yes (from 30 to 223 mhz). You can even switch from Wide to Narrow FM, but it's barrely usable.
CB Band: yes (cannot test this as CB band is not used anymore)
Rechargeable Battery: Use a rechargeable 700 mah battery. Space is foreseen for 2 x AAA batteries but you cannot use them given there are not contacts for them.
Speaker sound quality: 5/10. Given the speaker size, sound is pretty ok.
Ease of use: 8/10. Definitely very easy to use.
Preset memories: 8/10. Lots of space to store the stations, and accessing them is very easy as well. Well done !
MP3 Player: n/a
Bluetooth: n/a
Aux input: n/a
Solar panel: n/a
Record on SD card: n/a
Extra features: n/a. Display the signal power. Includes a clock. Can receive the VHF 2 bands amateur bands (didn't test it yet).
My last thoughts:
I warmly recommend this radio, for those who :
- Want an extremely small radio to always have with you
- Want a very good FM & quite ok AM performer, and decent SW performer. Nice on holiday trips !
Things I don't like:
- Air band / VHF band is barely usable.
- No LW band
- Prone to overload
- Seems a little bit flimsy, more of a toy than something else
